Cantabria government supports maritime heritage and club centennial

The Government of Cantabria has delivered the traditional fishing boat ‘Sotileza’ to the Navigatio Association as part of the Sotileza project. The initiative aims to recover and preserve Cantabrian maritime heritage, traditional navigation techniques, and artisanal fishing methods. The vessel, which had been stored in government facilities for decades, will now be used to promote regional maritime culture.

Additionally, the President of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, has expressed support for the upcoming centennial of the Real Club Marítimo de Santander (RCMS) in 2027. The centennial program includes several major events, such as the J80 Class World Championship scheduled for June 25 to July 3, 2027, in the Bay of Santander. Other planned activities include the ‘Cien años en el Muelle’ exhibition, a documentary directed by Álvaro Longoria, and the release of a commemorative book.
