Cantabria Health Minister promises new health center for Reinosa
César Pascual, the Health Minister of Cantabria, stated during a parliamentary session that Reinosa will receive what he described as ‘the best health center in Cantabria.’ The new facility is expected to be the first in the region to feature full climate control.
The announcement came in response to criticism from the Socialist Party (PSOE) regarding delays in opening the local clinic and the operational status of the 061 emergency base. Opposition members also raised concerns about the lack of pediatric care in the area, noting that families have had to travel to Los Corrales de Buelna for medical services.
Minister Pascual addressed the pediatric shortage by noting that while the city has two pediatricians, one is on long-term leave and the other is on vacation. He stated that no other specialists have volunteered to relocate to the city and emphasized that the government will not implement mandatory professional transfers. Instead, the administration is exploring incentives and adjusted working hours to attract medical staff.
