Cantabria implements new grant systems for entrepreneurs and SMEs

The regional government of Cantabria has introduced new decrees to simplify administrative processes and provide financial support to entrepreneurs, industrial companies, and small businesses.

SODERCAN, the Society for the Development of Cantabria, has unified the Emprecan and Emplea programs into a single direct grant system. This new framework for supporting business creation and stable hiring operates without fixed deadlines or budget limits, allowing companies to apply once investments or hires are made. The initiative aims to provide greater certainty for self-employed individuals and new industrial enterprises.

Additionally, new subsidies have been established for SMEs and self-employed individuals to implement equality plans. Grants range from 2,000 to 6,000 euros based on company size (4 to 49 employees), with the possibility of reaching 7,000 euros if LGTBI equality measures and anti-harassment protocols are included. These non-repayable funds are designed to reduce bureaucracy by allowing access once equality plans are registered, bypassing previous lengthy reporting requirements.
