Cantabria offers diverse nature and cycling routes
Cantabria offers diverse natural and historical routes for eco-tourism, including the Besaya Greenways and the Nansa river paths.
The Besaya Greenways provide an easy cycling itinerary connecting Suances to Barros. The route features coastal landscapes, the Saja and Besaya rivers, and various historical villages. Cyclists can experience the estuary of the Saja, passing through Los Cantos and crossing a metal bridge toward Torrelavega, transitioning from maritime environments to inland scenery.
In a different area, the Nansa river serves as a valuable ecological corridor stretching 46 kilometers from Peña Labra to its mouth. A highly accessible section begins in Muñorrodero, offering a low-difficulty walk suitable for families. This path winds through dense riparian forests containing ash, willow, and oak trees, eventually reaching the turquoise waters of the Tina Menor estuary.
