Cantabria President urges central government to support regional investments

During the Day of Cantabria celebrations in Cabezón de la Sal, Cantabrian President María José Sáenz de Buruaga called on the Spanish central government to support regional investments and competitiveness. Buruaga urged the administration to fulfill commitments regarding the AVE high-speed rail, commuter services, the Bilbao train connection, and the Aguilar-Burgos highway.

She also requested energy support for the Altamira Project and requested that the government avoid placing excessive burdens on electro-intensive industries, fishermen, and livestock farmers. Additionally, the President addressed the need for better healthcare planning to resolve medical shortages and advocated for solutions to rising housing costs.

Reflecting on the past three years, Buruaga described a shift from a period of economic stagnation to one of growth and employment leadership. She emphasized her commitment to transparency and dialogue, stating that the region aims to compete effectively within Spain and Europe.
