Cantabria to begin testing new commuter trains in late October
The first of the new commuter trains scheduled for Cantabria is expected to begin track testing in late October or early November. Pedro Casares, the Government Delegate in Cantabria, announced that the units are currently undergoing testing in a closed circuit.
The fleet modernization aims to improve punctuality, reliability, and service frequency. The new convoys began manufacturing in February 2024 at CAF facilities in Besain, Guipúzcoa, with production later moving to a plant in Zaragoza. Transport Minister Óscar Puente previously noted that the units were already undergoing dynamic testing to prepare for rail trials.
