Cantabria to launch respiratory vaccination campaign on September 28
Cantabria will launch its 2026-2027 respiratory infection prevention campaign on September 28, targeting influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The region has acquired 189,500 doses, representing an increase of nearly 16% compared to the previous period.
Key updates to the campaign include the expansion of school-based vaccinations to children up to 7 years old. Teachers, members of the educational community, and students' family members are also eligible to be vaccinated at schools. The initiative will also continue to reach nursing homes, health centers, and hospitals.
The rollout will follow a progressive schedule: vaccination in nursing homes begins the week of September 28, followed by schools on October 5. Vaccination for high-risk groups in health centers and hospitals starts on October 12, and the campaign will open to the general public on October 24. The program is scheduled to run until March 31, 2027.
