Cantabria towns lead Spain's most visited destinations ranking
Santillana del Mar has been named the most visited municipality in Spain for 2026 by the Association of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain. The ranking, based on verified user data from the association's official mobile application between October 2025 and September 2026, places the Cantabrian town at the top of the list.
Cantabria demonstrated significant presence in the national rankings, with Comillas following in second place and Potes in fourth. The top five most visited destinations included Santillana del Mar, Comillas, Albarracín (Teruel), Potes (Cantabria), and Peñíscola (Castellón).
Other notable locations in the top ten include Cudillero, Chinchón, Lerma, Aínsa, and La Alberca. The awards were presented during the XIV National Assembly of the association in Mallorca, with further recognition planned for the FITUR 2027 tourism fair in Madrid.
