Cantanhede: 86-year-old man dies in tractor accident

An 86-year-old man died on Sunday, August 9, following a tractor accident at Praia da Tocha in the Cantanhede municipality. The vehicle was reportedly being used to support 'arte xávega', a traditional fishing method involving pulling nets from the shore.

Emergency services, including the Maritime Police of Figueira da Foz, Cantanhede Volunteer Firefighters, and the VMER of Figueira da Foz, were mobilized after the alert was received via the Maritime Operations Center. Despite resuscitation efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The body has been transported to the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in Coimbra for medical-legal procedures, and authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
