Cantine Federiciane begins 2026 harvest at Vigna Cigliano
Cantine Federiciane has officially begun its 2026 grape harvest at Vigna Cigliano Solfatara, located in the Campi Flegrei region between Solfatara and the Bay of Pozzuoli. The vineyard is classified as ‘heroic viticulture’ due to its challenging terrain, which features steep slopes, unstable soil, and volcanic origins.
The vineyard produces three distinct grape varieties: Aglianico, Piedirosso, and Marsigliese. The combination of volcanic soil and the local microclimate is expected to impart high acidity, marked salinity, and strong mineral characteristics to the grapes.
Antonio Palumbo, commercial director of the fourth-generation family winery, stated that the acquisition of this difficult terrain was a strategic decision based on the belief that the most challenging landscapes offer the most authentic enological potential.
