Canton Fair celebrates 70th anniversary and expansion

The Canton Fair is celebrating its 70th anniversary alongside the launch of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. Over seven decades, the exhibition area has expanded from 9,600 square meters in its first edition to 1.55 million square meters, while the number of buyers has grown from 1,200 to over 300,000 this year.

In a congratulatory letter, President Xi Jinping noted that the fair has played a vital role in promoting trade between China and foreign nations, serving as an effective platform for expanding high-level openness and building an open world economy.

The first phase of this year’s fair focuses on advanced manufacturing, showcasing achievements in five key sectors: electronic home appliances, industrial manufacturing, lighting and electrical equipment, hardware, and vehicles and two-wheelers.
