Canton Fair opens in Guangzhou for 140th edition

The 140th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, has opened in Guangzhou. Marking its 70th anniversary, the event serves as a major platform for international trade and China's economic openness.

More than 11,000 specialized companies are participating in the fair, which runs until November 4. The event features a significant emphasis on technology, with 64 percent of exhibitors applying artificial intelligence and industrial internet technologies to their processes. Additionally, new products and green products account for 23.2 percent and 26 percent of the total, respectively.

Organizers noted that over 700 new product launches are scheduled, a 15 percent increase from previous iterations. For the first time, the fair covers the ten main categories of productive services. Zhu Yong, director of the China Foreign Trade Centre, emphasized a commitment to multilateralism and maintaining an open global economy.
