Cantv drives fiber‑optic rollout and community telecom boards in Venezuela
The state-owned telecom company Cantv held a meeting in Bolívar’s Caroní municipality, bringing together 20 Community Technical Telecommunication Tables (MTT) and local officials to discuss the transition of copper networks to fiber optic. Zoe Contreras, spokesperson for the Los Alacranes MTT, said Cantv’s presence helps communities organize projects and improve essential services such as health and education.
In Monagas, Cantv facilitated the formation of new MTTs in Caicara de Maturín and La Toscana, presenting plans to expand telephone and internet services. Community leader Carmelo Cabeza highlighted the training effort, stating, "We have begun a process of formation to strengthen our knowledge and put it at the service of the Popular Power." Both initiatives aim to strengthen community participation and protect telecom infrastructure.
