CANVAS HiFi introduces Dolby Atmos support via modular speaker expansion
CANVAS HiFi is expanding its audio concept by introducing support for Dolby Atmos and discrete surround sound. While the company’s existing solutions focus on creating a wide soundstage through integrated units using BACCH 3D technology, the new modular approach allows for the addition of external active speakers.
This expansion enables configurations of up to 7.1.4 channels, including side, rear, and height channels. The system utilizes the CANVAS main unit to handle front channels (left, center, right) and bass, while additional speakers complete the immersive sound bubble.
To facilitate this, CANVAS HiFi has partnered with German electronics specialist Almando GmbH to develop the Almando InMedio control box. This unit manages decoding, signal distribution, and wireless audio transmission via the WiSA standard. Additionally, CANVAS HiFi is collaborating with System Audio A/S, which will provide Silverback speakers specifically designed to match the aesthetic and technical requirements of the CANVAS platform.
