Canzo receives 500,000 euros for new Civil Protection headquarters
The Lombardy Region has allocated 500,000 euros to support the construction of the second phase of the Valassina Civil Protection's new inter-municipal headquarters in Canzo. This funding follows an initial 500,000 euro investment that completed the first phase of the project in May 2025.
The planned 1,400-square-meter facility is designed to serve as a strategic emergency hub for the Triangolo lariano region. It will provide a centralized location to coordinate volunteers, vehicles, and resources, which is particularly critical for the mountainous terrain and numerous streams in the area. The site will house specialized equipment, including transport trucks, generators, and field kitchens, and will also serve as a center for training and drills.
The new regional contribution will be distributed over three years: 250,000 euros in 2026, 150,000 euros in 2027, and 100,000 euros in 2028. The total technical-economic feasibility project is valued at approximately 1.077 million euros, with the Municipality of Canzo expected to contribute roughly 600,000 euros directly.
