Cao Bá Hưng releases debut EP ten years after Sing My Song win

Cao Bá Hưng, the winner of the first season of Sing My Song, has released his debut EP titled ‘Phong lưu’ nearly ten years after his initial rise to fame. The EP features three tracks: ‘Tương tư’, the song that secured his championship; ‘Cõng chồng đi chơi’, a collaboration with Lương Bích Hữu; and ‘Bắt vợ’. All three songs draw inspiration from the cultural elements of the Northwest mountainous region of Vietnam.

Reflecting on the decade-long gap, Cao Bá Hưng noted that he experienced periods of self-doubt regarding his place in the music industry. While he remained active in the industry through composing and producing music for film soundtracks and other artists—including work for Tóc Tiên—he delayed his personal EP to ensure cultural respect and artistic authenticity. He stated that he chose not to rush his work to avoid the exhaustion of a musical race, preferring to carefully refine his lyrics, imagery, and instrumentation.
