CAO criticizes Bolivia diesel quota increase as insufficient

Klaus Frerking, president of the Cámara Agropecuaria del Oriente (CAO), has criticized recent government measures to increase the monthly subsidized diesel quota for small producers to 2,500 liters, calling them “parches” (patches) that fail to address the structural fuel shortage in Bolivia.

Frerking argued that the primary issue is the lack of diesel availability at service stations, which continues to cause long queues and supply shortages. He stated that a definitive solution requires eliminating the price difference between different fuel sectors to prevent speculation, the black market, and corruption.

The CAO is also calling for greater transparency and intervention within Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) following allegations of corruption. The fuel crisis is expected to be a central topic at the upcoming Asamblea de la Cruceñidad on September 9.
