Caño Romeral residents demand action over waterway pollution

The Caño Romeral Neighborhood Association is urgently calling for government intervention following the detection of active waste discharges in the Caño Romeral waterway, which flows into the Ahogarratones stream in Chiclana.

Residents reported foul odors and a high concentration of mosquitoes in the area. Although the situation was reported to the Civil Guard’s Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) in mid-August, the association claims the discharges have remained active for over two weeks.

The association is demanding immediate inspections, official water and sediment sampling for chemical and microbiological analysis, and the identification of the source of the pollution to prevent further environmental and sanitary damage.
