CaoCao Begins Driverless Robotaxi Trials in Hangzhou

CaoCao Inc. announced the official launch of driverless robotaxi testing in Hangzhou’s Binjiang District, operating without an onboard safety driver for the first time. The trials use a station‑triggered dispatch system and are overseen by the CaoCao Zhixing Remote Safety Service Platform, which provides continuous safety monitoring, emergency response and real‑time remote assistance.

The company, which already has about 100 robotaxis in Hangzhou, became the first local firm approved in April to test intelligent connected vehicles without safety drivers. The city’s new Green Intelligent Mobility Hub supports large‑scale fleet operations with automated battery swapping and cleaning. CaoCao’s Eva Cab, China’s first purpose‑built robotaxi, was unveiled and is slated for mass production in 2027, positioning the firm to expand driverless services to more cities.
