Caoling Ancient Trail Silvergrass Season begins October 31
The 25th annual Caoling Ancient Trail Silvergrass Season is scheduled to run from October 31 to November 29. Managed by the Northeast Coast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration, the event celebrates the seasonal blooming of silvergrass across the trail.
To manage crowds, a shuttle service will operate every Saturday and Sunday between the Fulong Visitor Center and Yuanwang Kengkou. This service does not require reservations and accepts cash or electronic payment.
This year’s theme focuses on a “time travel” experience. The Dali Visitor Center will offer free historical costume rentals on weekends, allowing visitors to dress as ancient travelers for photography. Additional activities include a pop-up theatrical performance on October 31, DIY craft workshops, and a stamp collection challenge where participants can exchange stamps for weekly limited-edition badges.
To promote local tourism, the event has partnered with over 25 local businesses, offering special discounts to travelers who present a Silvergrass Season stamp postcard. The program also includes curated travel itineraries that link the hiking trail with the hot springs of Jiaoxi.
