Capaccio Paestum authorities seize beach equipment and lifeguards perform rescue

Authorities in Capaccio Paestum, Italy, have conducted a crackdown on the practice of leaving beach equipment overnight to reserve public spaces. During an operation titled ‘Ombrellone Selvaggio’ (Wild Umbrella) conducted between August 17 and 18, local police seized hundreds of items left on the shore, including 156 umbrellas, 137 beach chairs, 45 inflatables, and 34 sun loungers. The seizure, coordinated by Commander Antonio Rinaldi, spanned approximately five kilometers of coastline and continued despite severe thunderstorms.

In a separate incident on a public beach in Licinella, Capaccio Paestum, two lifeguards from Lifeguardpaestum rescued a family of four. Two children on a mattress were pulled toward the surf by strong currents, and their parents were subsequently caught in the same current while attempting to reach them. The lifeguards successfully brought both the children and the adults safely back to shore.
