Capaccio Paestum authorities seize livestock farm for environmental crimes

Local police in Capaccio Paestum, supported by the N.O.E.T.A.A. association and WWF Italia, have conducted a major operation against environmental crimes at a large livestock farm in the Spinazzo area. The investigation targeted a 250,000 square meter property used for cattle and buffalo milk production.

Authorities discovered several serious violations, including the unauthorized discharge of livestock waste through illegal piping into an adjacent canal. The inspection, which utilized drones and veterinary expertise from the local ASL, also revealed severe animal welfare issues and hygienic deficiencies. Notably, officers found a decomposing animal carcass left in the open, leading to additional criminal charges for illegal waste disposal.
