Capaccio Paestum administration collapses after no-confidence vote
The administration of Mayor Gaetano Paolino in Capaccio Paestum has collapsed after only 15 months. Nine municipal councilors signed a formal no-confidence act before a notary, leading to the dissolution of the City Council.
Councilors cited several grievances, including an overly centralized management style, poor summer tourism programming, and issues regarding the Municipal Urban Plan (PUC) and the transformation of the Paestum Special Agency. One signatory, Adele Renna, described the decision as ‘suffered but necessary’ due to a lack of dialogue and a disconnect from local reality.
Following the loss of the required quorum, the Prefect of Salerno, Francesco Esposito, has ordered the immediate suspension of the council and initiated the formal dissolution process. Armando Gradone, a retired Prefect, has been appointed as the extraordinary commissioner to manage the municipality and ensure the continuity of essential services until the next elections in 2027.
