Capaccio Paestum Mayor revokes urban plan amid political crisis

The Mayor of Capaccio Paestum, Gaetano Paolino, is facing a political crisis following the failure to approve the 2025 financial report in the latest City Council meeting. In an attempt to prevent the Prefecture from dissolving the municipal government, the administration has moved to revoke the Municipal Urban Plan (PUC), which had been approved only in June 2026.

Opposition Councilor Simona Corradino has criticized the move as “self-harming,” arguing that the administration is dismantling its own work to address pre-existing flaws that were previously reported. Corradino noted that the revocation prematurely closes the public observation phase, potentially wasting significant public funds spent on technical studies, geological reports, and environmental expertise.
