Capaccio Paestum unveils flower competition and new accessible beach area

The municipality of Capaccio Paestum in Italy announced the first edition of “Contrade in fiore”, a flower‑decorating competition inviting residents, families, associations, businesses and tourists to submit photographs of floral displays for balconies, windows, terraces, shop fronts, gardens, courtyards, streets and outdoor seating. Submissions are due by 21 September 2026 and will be judged on aesthetics, greening and representation of the territory, with winners to be announced at a later ceremony.

In the same summer, the town opened a second assisted‑access beach point north of the Dum Dum lido, adding to the existing site near the Nettuno lido. The new area, part of the regional “Mare senza Barriere” programme under “A – Mare Tutti”, will provide equipment and a qualified assistance service through a contract with the Dum Dum beach operator, aiming to improve inclusive tourism for people with disabilities.
