Capalbio hosts cultural events and honors Amintore Fanfani

The town of Capalbio is hosting a series of cultural events, including film screenings at the Nuovo Cinema Tirreno and the presentation of the Fondazione Capalbio Prize for Translated Works. The literary prize winner for the 2026 edition is Maria Nicola, recognized for her translation of Samanta Schweblin’s ‘Il buon male’. Special ‘Vignaioli di Scansano’ awards were also granted to Mariolina Bertini and Ottavio Fatica.

Additionally, the local administration has dedicated a small square in front of the Nuovo Cinema Tirreno to Amintore Fanfani, the former Italian Prime Minister and Christian Democracy leader. The dedication honors Fanfani’s historical impact on the region, specifically his role in the agrarian reform and the 1960 decree that established the Municipality of Capalbio. The ceremony was attended by Fanfani’s family and local officials.
