Street Fighter live-action film set for global October 2026 release

The live-action film adaptation of Capcom’s Street Fighter, directed by Kitao Sakurai, is scheduled for a global theatrical release in mid-October 2026. Produced by Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures, the film is set in 1993 and follows the estranged fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) as they are recruited by Chun-Li (Callina Liang) for the World Warrior Tournament. The plot involves a deadly conspiracy led by M. Bison (David Dastmalchian).

The production features a diverse cast including Jason Momoa as Blanka, WWE stars Roman Reigns as Akuma and Cody Rhodes as Guile, and 50 Cent as Balrog. To honor the franchise's heritage, the film incorporates flashback sequences using traditional hand-drawn 90s-style animation.

Early audience reactions suggest the film embraces a vibrant, exaggerated tone reminiscent of 90s action cinema and anime. A post-credits scene featuring the character Sagat has sparked discussions regarding a potential sequel, a possibility the director has not ruled out.
