Capcom Details Resident Evil Veronica Remake at Summer Game Fest 2026

Capcom officially unveiled a remake of Resident Evil: Veronica during the Summer Game Fest 2026. In a Q&A session, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that the same development team behind the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes is handling the project, promising to preserve the series' core while adding new elements.

The studio explained that the remake will present the game in third‑person perspective, despite an introductory first‑person sequence shown in the trailer. Storyline adjustments are being made to reinforce connections with other entries, especially tying the events to those of Resident Evil 4. The narrative follows Claire Redfield three months after the Raccoon City incident, leading her to a confrontation with Umbrella forces on Rockfort Island. Hirabayashi highlighted that gameplay will lean toward classic survival‑horror, mirroring the feel of the Resident Evil 2 remake, rather than adopting the more action‑oriented style of later titles. The title drops "Code" from its name, and the camera will remain third‑person for regular gameplay.
