Capcom reports record first-half sales driven by Resident Evil and catalog titles

Capcom has achieved its highest software unit sales for a first half-fiscal year in its 47-year history. Between April and September 2026, the company sold 36.86 million game units, a 54.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

While new releases such as Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword performed strongly, the company’s existing catalog remains its primary financial driver. Catalog titles accounted for 87.3% of total sales, with 32.18 million units sold. Top-performing legacy titles include Monster Hunter: World, Resident Evil 2 Remake, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.

Digital distribution continues to dominate the business, representing 92.4% of all sales. PC sales have become a major pillar for the company, accounting for 57.1% of total units sold, while console digital sales represent 35.3%. Physical sales accounted for 7.6% of the total volume.

In related news, Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi indicated that the overarching narrative of the Resident Evil franchise may reach a conclusion within the next decade, following the release of Resident Evil Requiem.
