Capcom reports 93% of FY2026 Q1 game sales are digital, physical drops to 6.7%

Capcom disclosed that 93.3% of its game sales in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026 were delivered digitally, while physical disc sales accounted for only 6.7%. The data, which cover new releases and the company’s existing catalog, show that 60.4% of total sales came from PC platforms, with consoles contributing 32.9% of digital sales and a matching 6.7% of physical sales. The figures highlight a continued shift of Capcom’s player base toward PC and Steam distribution.

The announcement coincides with Sony’s plan to cease PlayStation disc production by 2028, illustrating broader industry movement away from physical media. Although the physical segment still represents a measurable market share, it is now a minor component of overall revenue for major publishers like Capcom.
