Capcom says Resident Evil 1 remake entered pre‑production in 2025
Capcom’s first‑game remake has moved into pre‑production, according to long‑time Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem. The insider posted on X that the early work began in August‑September 2025, roughly a year ago. The pre‑production phase involves a small team developing concepts before the project shifts to full production.
Full production will not start until after the remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica, which is currently in a crunch phase and slated for a 2027 release, is completed. By contrast, the Resident Evil 0 remake entered full production in 2022. The schedule suggests the Resident Evil 1 remake is unlikely to reach stores before 2029, and Capcom has not yet issued an official confirmation.
Multiple regional outlets (Brazil, Italy, Germany, Portugal and others) have reported the same timeline, all citing the same Dusk Golem tweet that reads: “Yes, it started early production nearly a year ago (I hear last August‑September is when it started pre‑production)”.
