Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword reaches 1.78 million sales

Capcom’s FY2026 first-half financial report reveals that Onimusha: Way of the Sword has sold 1.78 million copies. This performance has pushed total sales for the Onimusha franchise past 11 million units.

The title, which is the first new installment in the series in over two decades, features Miyamoto Musashi in a dark fantasy setting based in Edo-era Kyoto. The game's commercial success contributed to a strong first half for Capcom’s Digital Contents business, with the company selling 36.86 million game units across 260 titles during the six-month period ending September 30, 2026.

Addressing discussions regarding the game's difficulty, Director Satoru Nihei stated in an interview that player data aligns with the intended challenge level. Nihei noted that while players encounter obstacles and defeats, the goal was to provide a sense of satisfaction through overcoming those challenges.
