Cape Coast launches fundraising for eight-year development plan

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly (CCMA) has launched its second fundraising drive to support an eight-year development plan spanning 2026 to 2033. The initiative aims to revitalize the historic Ghanaian city by addressing infrastructure shortfalls, urbanisation, and socio-economic challenges resulting from decades of underinvestment.

The strategic plan focuses on five key areas: economic growth and job creation, infrastructure and urban development, social and human capital development, environmental sustainability, and good governance. Proposed projects include improvements to roads, drainage, water, and sanitation systems, as well as the protection of cultural heritage sites and climate change resilience.

As part of the fundraising efforts, CENPOWER Operations and Services (CENOPS) has redeemed a pledge of GH₵233,180.00 to the CCMA. This contribution, presented by Metropolitan Chief Executive George Justice Arthur, supports the city's vision to redefine its ancient landscape. The funds follow a previous humanitarian commitment made by CENPOWER after heavy rainfall caused building collapses and loss of life in the region in June 2025.
