Cape Coral and Tallahassee elections head to November runoffs

Municipal elections in Cape Coral and Tallahassee have resulted in several races heading to runoffs in November after no candidates secured a majority in the primary contests.

In Cape Coral, the mayoral race will feature a runoff between Rick Erickson and Lisa Cohen-Adkinson, as incumbent Mayor John Gunter failed to clear the primary. Other runoff contests include District 1, where Tom Shadrach and Dave Newton advanced, and District 6, featuring Liza King and Annette Warren.

In Tallahassee, the mayoral race will proceed to a runoff between City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow and former state Senator Loranne Ausley. The City Commission also faces runoffs, including Seat 5 where incumbent Dianne Williams-Cox finished first. A recount is expected for City Commission Seat 3 to determine whether Tom Derzypolski or Talethia Edwards will advance to face P. J. Perez in the November election.
