Cape Floral Kingdom featured in Monnaie de Paris coin series

The Monnaie de Paris has selected the Cape Floral Region Protected Areas and Table Mountain to be featured in its 2026 UNESCO World Heritage Series. The new collection of collectible coins will honor the South African site, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.

The Cape Floral Kingdom is noted for its extreme biodiversity, containing nearly 20% of Africa’s flora despite covering less than 0.5% of the continent. The region hosts approximately 9,000 plant species, with roughly 69% being endemic to the area. The coin designs will feature Table Mountain as a central element, surrounded by imagery representing the region’s unique plant life, such as fynbos and proteas.
