Cape May ranked as a top mermaid-friendly city in U.S. study
A new study by Yay! Coloring Pages has ranked Cape May, New Jersey, as the eighth most mermaid-friendly city in the United States. It is noted as the only northern U.S. city to rank near the top of the list.
The study evaluated various factors to determine where mermaids would most likely reside, including average water temperature, beach quality, boating access, marine biodiversity, and public interest. Cape May scored highly due to an average August water temperature of 75.9 degrees, low rainfall, and a relative lack of fishermen, scuba instructors, and boat rentals, which provides more privacy.
In contrast, Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, ranked near the bottom of the study.
