Cape May receives national recognition for its main street and state identity

Cape May has received multiple accolades in recent surveys. Country Living named Washington Street in Cape May as one of the Best Main Streets in America. The street is a pedestrian-only mall featuring locally owned boutiques, dining establishments, and a classic soda fountain.

Additionally, a survey conducted by the Justin Havre Real Estate Team, which polled over 3,000 adults across the United States and Canada, identified Cape May as the town that best represents the identity of New Jersey. While the town is noted for its Victorian architecture and historic charm, the designation has drawn debate regarding whether its buttoned-up atmosphere accurately reflects the broader character of the state.
