Cape Town announces planned electricity outages for infrastructure upgrades
The City of Cape Town has announced a planned electricity supply interruption for residents in the Southern and Far South areas to facilitate critical infrastructure upgrades. The outage is scheduled to begin at 20:00 on Saturday, 10 October 2026, and is expected to last until 06:00 on Sunday, 11 October 2026.
This maintenance work was originally slated for 19 September 2026 but was rescheduled to October to consolidate interruptions and optimize resources. While the city aims to minimize costs and avoid extended service disruptions, officials noted that some neighborhoods on the outage map may not experience interruptions, while areas not explicitly listed could still face temporary disruptions.
A wide range of neighborhoods are expected to be affected, including Muizenberg, Simon’s Town, Tokai, Noordhoek, Fish Hoek, and various parts of the Southern suburbs.
