Cape Town police recover six hijacked vehicles in Mandalay

Cape Town police have recovered six stolen or hijacked vehicles following an intelligence-led operation at two properties in Mandalay. The operation, conducted by the Flying Squad and Crime Intelligence, resulted in the arrest of one individual.

During the searches, officers located a Toyota Starlet at a property on Dickens Drive, which was linked to a recent hijacking in Harare. At a second location on Melderson Road, police found four Volkswagen Polo vehicles and a Toyota Hilux. Investigators noted that vehicle identification numbers on some of the cars had been tampered with or removed. Some of the recovered vehicles are linked to hijacking incidents reported in Cape Town Central, Woodstock, and Muizenberg between July and September 2026.
