Cape Town Schedules 2026 Heat Winter Arts Festival and Festive Lights Switch-On

Cape Town’s central business district will host the Heat Winter Arts Festival from 6‑15 August 2026. The city‑wide programme blends music, visual art, theatre and heritage sites, with the opening night on 6 August featuring a guided walk through galleries and historic buildings accompanied by a performance from the Amici de Lumine Choir. Organisers aim to encourage residents and visitors to experience the inner city as a cultural destination rather than a transit route.

The city also confirmed that the 57th annual Festive Lights Switch‑On will take place on 29 November 2026. The free six‑hour event will illuminate Adderley and Darling Streets, include a video‑mapping projection on City Hall, a dance challenge and the unveiling of the mayor’s festive outfit. Organisers expect another crowd of over 100,000 people, building on the record‑breaking turnout of the 2025 celebration.
