Capena fatal head-on collision between car and Cotral bus

An 82-year-old man, Franco Corradini, died following a head-on collision between his Fiat Panda and a Cotral bus on Friday evening, October 23, 2026. The accident occurred on Strada Provinciale 62 near Capena, north of Rome.

Corradini was extracted from the wreckage by firefighters and transported to the Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli in Rome, where he succumbed to multiple traumas during the night. The 55-year-old bus driver was also injured and remains hospitalized at Sant'Andrea hospital in critical condition.

Preliminary investigations suggest the car may have crossed into the opposing lane, though the exact cause remains under investigation by the Carabinieri of Monterotondo and the Public Prosecutor's Office of Tivoli. Authorities are considering whether the driver experienced a sudden medical emergency or fell asleep at the wheel.
