Capestang offers scenic walking routes along the Canal du Midi

The village of Capestang offers a scenic 13-kilometer walking circuit along the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located near Toulouse in the Hérault department, the path follows the canal's towpath, winding through vineyards including the AOP Saint-Chinian and IGP Pays d’Oc regions.

The route is characterized by its flat terrain and rows of plane trees. A notable feature is the Grand Bief de Capestang, which is the longest stretch of the canal without a lock, spanning over 50 kilometers between Argeliers and Béziers. The landscape is particularly striking in autumn when the vineyard leaves change color.
