Capgemini report: Climate crisis disrupts global supply chains
A report from the Capgemini Research Institute reveals that climate change is significantly impacting global corporate operations. Approximately 87% of large companies have experienced supply chain disruptions due to extreme weather events, while 84% have faced disruptions in production processes.
Key findings indicate that resource scarcity is increasingly viewed as a major threat to business growth. Furthermore, 81% of executives report rising insurance and liability costs linked to climate change, and 77% acknowledge impacts on company revenue.
Companies are shifting their focus toward sustainability investments, primarily to create corporate value and mitigate the effects of geopolitical tensions and resource access issues, rather than solely for ethical reasons. The study is based on surveys of 2,100 executives from 701 large corporations with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion across 13 countries in North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
