CapGen Seeds to open new molecular biology laboratory
CapGen Seeds has announced a strategic research and development roadmap for the 2026/2027 growing season, centered on the opening of a new molecular biology laboratory. This facility is intended to serve as the analytical engine for the company’s internal breeding programs, accelerating the development of its own genetics.
By integrating the new laboratory with existing cell biology and pathology departments, the company aims to provide more cohesive support for its genetic improvement efforts. This infrastructure is designed to help develop new varieties that can respond to emerging phytosanitary pressures, variable climatic conditions, and market demands regarding productivity, flavor, and post-harvest conservation. Elena Pérez, Head of Research at CapGen Seeds, noted that the integration will allow for more coordinated work and comprehensive support for their breeding programs.
