Capital Development Authority approves 23 commercial building plans

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved 23 commercial building plans following four meetings of the Design Vetting Committee (DVC). Out of 40 scheduled cases, eight were withdrawn by architects and sponsors due to incomplete documentation, and several others were deferred because of insufficient parking arrangements or failure to meet fundamental planning parameters.

Following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the CDA aims to facilitate investment in Islamabad by streamlining and simplifying the building plan approval process. To ensure public safety and accountability, the CDA has implemented new measures: the names of owners, architects, and consultants must be included in final approval letters and prominently displayed at construction sites. This policy allows for legal proceedings against those responsible if unauthorized changes are made to approved designs.
