Capital One Arena to undergo $1 billion renovation in Washington D.C

Monumental Sports & Entertainment has released new renderings and details for a massive renovation project at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The project, now estimated to cost more than $1 billion, includes features such as a redesigned iconic exterior and a ‘Visibowl’ intended to provide views of the arena interior from the lobby.

As part of the announcement, Capital One has signed a 20-year extension for the arena's naming rights. The renovation project is partially funded by public funds as part of an agreement to ensure the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards remain in the district. Construction is expected to be completed before the start of the 2027-2028 NBA and NHL seasons.
