Capitanata region faces fuel shortage and agricultural crisis

The Capitanata region in Italy is experiencing a multifaceted crisis driven by rising fuel costs and falling agricultural prices. Farmers, olive growers, and transport workers have staged protests in San Severo and throughout the area to demand urgent institutional intervention. Local political representatives, including UDC Commissioner Ilena Guerrieri, have called for measures to stabilize energy costs and protect the original prices of olive products to ensure the economic sustainability of local businesses.

The fuel shortage is also impacting the judicial system. The Association of Criminal Lawyers of Capitanata has formally requested that the Foggia Bar Association and the Tribunal consider 'legitimate impediment' for lawyers unable to reach court hearings. Professionals residing in distant municipalities, such as Rodi Garganico, Vieste, and the Monti Dauni area, face significant mobility obstacles due to the lack of fuel and insufficient public transportation alternatives.
