Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area hosts European Commissioner

European Commissioner Costas Kadis visited the Capo Milazzo Marine Protected Area to evaluate its collaborative management model. The site serves as a technical example of integrating marine ecosystem protection with local community involvement and sustainable development.

The management consortium includes the Municipality of Milazzo, the Marevivo Foundation, and the University of Messina. During the visit, Kadis observed activities ranging from biodiversity protection and scientific research to sustainable fishing and environmental education. He noted the high quality of the integrated approach, which combines institutional oversight with the participation of fishermen, scientists, and civil society.
