Capo San Marco, a golden‑sand beach just outside Sciacca on Sicily’s south‑west coast, is praised for its clear waters that shift colour through the day and its shallow, family‑friendly seabed. The stretch alternates between organised beach clubs with bars, umbrellas and showers and quieter free‑sand sections, making an early arrival advisable to secure a spot and avoid the strong coastal winds.

Further north, the historic town of Gaeta in Lazio offers white‑sand bays framed by the medieval Angio‑Aragonese castle and the striking Monte Orlando, whose cliffs plunge into the Tyrrhenian Sea.
