Authorities in Caponago and the water utility BrianzAcque have addressed reports of a chlorine odor in tap water. Officials clarified that the smell is due to sodium hypochlorite used during routine pipe sanitation and maintenance operations.

Despite the noticeable odor, the water remains potable and safe for consumption, with chlorine concentrations staying within normal regulatory parameters. BrianzAcque noted that dropping temperatures may have intensified the scent. Operational teams are currently working on purging the network to restore normal conditions and reduce the odor.
